Jones announces candidacy for District 54 position

2015 honor graduate of Trumann High School Austin Jones announced this week that he will be a candidate for District 54 state representative. He is running as a democrat. The District 54 position is currently held by Rep. Johnny Rye-R of Trumann. According to Jones’ press release, “the district bridges Poinsett and Mississippi County and encompasses the cities of Trumann, Lepanto, Gosnell, Leachville, and Manila.”...

A local agricultural equipment company is challenging area farmers to help make the Christmas a brighter one for the children of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. According to Charles Dunkin of Greenway Equipment Company, the local John Deere dealership, Greenway has issued a challenge to area farmers to purchase up to $100 in toys and donate them, and then challenge their fellow farmers to do the same. ...

An autopsy revealed a local infant died of Methamphetamine Toxicity, and his parents are facing second-degree murder charges, according to Blytheville Police Chief Ross Thompson.
