Lela Lorene Parks, 90, of Blytheville, died Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, at her home. Born Feb. 26, 1919, in Obion, Tenn., the daughter of the late Harvey and Mary Burns Lawson, she was a homemaker and a member of Blackwater Baptist Church near Manila. She was a former member of the Eastern Star and the Home Extension Club in the Blackwater Community, where she was affectionately known as "Granny." She learned how to cook when she was five or six years old, standing on a bucket at the stove, and was known for her wonderful pies at Sharecroppers Restaurant in Blytheville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Lawrence Parks; three brothers; and three sisters.

Mrs. Parks leaves her son, Jim Parks and his wife, Violet, of Lonoke; two daughters, Patsy Adams and Sheila Dobbs, both of Blytheville; four grandchildren, Eddie Adams, Tommy Adams, Jennifer Parks Evans, and Melissa Parks; and three great-grandchildren, Morgan Adams, Jimmy Evans, and Lawson Evans.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 6, in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel in Blytheville with Rev. Greg Bowers officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery.

The family received visitors Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
