Joe Griffin - Lake City

Joe Griffin, 77, of Lake City died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at Lake City, he lived at Jonesboro before moving back to Lake City five years ago. He was retired from General Electric in Jonesboro and was a member of First United Methodist Church at Lake City. He was an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. He also was a 32nd degree Mason.

Survivors include a son, Joe D. Griffin of Jonesboro, and two granddaughters, Katie Griffin and Kristie Griffin Becker.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Billie Joe Griffin, and his

parents, Earl and Ethel Stone Griffin.

Services were 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church at Lake City, with the Rev. Bruce Higgins officiating. Burial was in Oaklawn Cemetery at Jonesboro under the direction of Emerson Funeral Home of Lake City.

Active pallbearers included Paul McAnally, Rohn Craft, Wayne Carlisle, Mike Gray, Rick Rorex and Bill West.

Honorary pallbearers included members of the adult Sunday school class at Lake City United Methodist Church.
