Oma D. Copeland - Monette

Oma D. Copeland, 83, of Monette, died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at Monette Manor. She was retired from the Department of Human Services, member of the Monette Church of Christ, and had lived in the Monette area throughout her lifetime.

She is survived by two daughters, Shirley Taylor and Linda Morris of Monette; two sons, Ricky Copeland of Monette and Joe Copeland of Dallas, Texas; three sisters, Laverne Simpson of Michigan City, Ind., Christine Williams of Timbo, Ark., and Juanita Davidson of Jonesboro; seven grandchildren, Connie, Lorrie, Brian, Cindy, Karen, Josh and Travis; five great-grandchildren, T.J., Lauren, Blake, Heather and Taylor.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Shirley "Nig" Copeland; a son, Sonny Copeland; three brothers, Berlin Prince, Earnway Prince and Jewell Bibb; and a sister, Opaline Prince.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Monette Church of Christ with Art Smith officiating. Burial was in the Monette Cemetery with Gregg Funeral Home in charge.

Active pallbearers were Brian Copeland, T.J. Brickell, Josh Copeland, Doug Long, Tim Brickell, Blake Sipes, Charlie Moody, Taylor Mooney, Travis Copeland, James Skinner and Terry Edwards.
