Mrs. Anna Jones, 98, formerly of Manila, departed this life Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born Feb. 28, 1914, in Swifton, Ark., the daughter of Josepheus Slayton and Cora Ruff Slayton. Anna was a homemaker and loved to sew, quilt and garden. She was a charter member of Brown's Chapel Baptist Church in Manila. She married Earl Jones in 1940 and they enjoyed 52 years together before his death in 1992.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
She is survived by one son, Jewel Bibbs of Burton, Mich.; one granddaughter, Debbie Araiza of Swartz Creek, Mich.; two great-grandchildren, Alita Maini and Nathan Araiza; and four great-great
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 2, at Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Rev. Larry Deaton officiating. Interment was in Monette Memorial Cemetery.
Friends visited at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Saturday.
