Margaret Francis "Fran" Jackson Ashabranner

Tuesday, April 10, 2012

Margaret Francis "Fran Jackson" Ashabranner, 73, of Manila, died early Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at her home. Born at Pearson, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Edward and Susan Ollie Johnson Jackson and was raised in Manila. She was a 1958 graduate of Manila High School and had worked more than 20 years in the payroll department and as the office manager for a citrus processing facility in Florida. Fran had lived in Frostproof, Fla., for more than 35 years before returning to Manila to be near her family and friends. In her younger days she enjoyed playing softball, bowling, skiing, boating, and taking care of her boys and girls. She left a lasting impression on the many children in her life. Fran was a devoted LSU Tiger and Atlanta Braves fan. She claimed to bleed purple and gold. She also enjoyed playing bingo, cards, and the 25 cent slot machines. Perhaps her greatest attribute was being a loving wife and caregiver to those she loved. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Leonard Jackson and Henry Jackson, and three sisters, Lena Mae Jackson, Lil' Mae Jackson and Jennie V. Holliman.

Survivors include her husband, Chester Ashabranner of the home; one son, Jamie Riley, Jr. of the home; two sisters-in-law, Ermilee Jackson and Joyce Jackson, both of Leachville. She also leaves several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and other family and friends.

A celebration of life was 11 a.m. Monday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila.

The family received visitors Monday from 10 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.

The family prefers memorials be made to St. Judes Research Childrens Hospital.
