Opal Lillian Wells, 89, of Manila, died Monday, March 17, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Manila, she was the daughter of the late William Albert and Ophia Selby Wells. She was a lifelong Manila area resident, a retired cafeteria worker for the Manila School District. She was an avid fan of the St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Team and was of the Methodist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Wells, and a sister, Drucilla Mobley.

Survivors include her niece, Peggy Brizendine and her husband, Lonnie, of Eudora, Kansas; many cousins and dear friends.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila with Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery. Serving as active pallbearers were Mike Hembrey, Brad Scott, Barry Scott, Benny Wayne Stone, Floyd Farmer and Danny Wells. Honorary pallbearers were Lester Stone, Charles Wells and Eddie Wells.
