Charles R. Fortson, Sr., 69, of Hackett died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2008. He was a retired self-employed mechanic and carpenter and a member of the Sugarloaf Fire Department Teamsters Union.

He is survived by his wife, Willamae of the home; three sons, Charles Fortson, Jr., and his wife, Cindy, Tom Fortson and Jim Fortson and his wife, Christy; a sister, Shirley Hamilton, all of Suglarloaf; four brothers, Bill Joe Fortson of McDonough, Ga., Earl Dean Fortson of Barnsville, Ga., Ronny Gene Fortson of Manila and Randall Wayne Fortson of Hornersville; seven grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
