Eva Ruth Howerton, 88, of Clinton, formerly of Memphis, Tenn., died Friday, July 6, 2007, at Ozark Nursing Center in Clinton. Born at Monette, she was the daughter of the late William and Eva Meacham Harris and had lived most of her life in Memphis. She was a former dental assistant and office manager for Dr. Malcolm Pruitt in Memphis for many years.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Curt Howerton.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra Hewitt of Dallas, Texas and Peggy Mathis and her husband, Joe, of Fairfield Bay; five grandchildren, Tonya Lewis, Jamie Salz, David Hewitt, Randy Mathis and Chris Shaw; and two great-grandchildren, Payton Salz and Cole Johnson.
A graveside funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Sunday at Horner Cemetery in Hornersville, Mo., with Rev. Mark Wheeler officiating. The family received friends Sunday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 at Howard Funeral Chapel in Leachville.
