James Odell Prescott, 98, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Rosie, he was a resident of Jonesboro for the past 70 years and was formerly of Manila. He retired in 1972 as a farmer and had also enjoyed carpentry. He was of the Baptist belief.

He is survived by two sons, James Prescott, and his wife, Martha, of Jonesboro, and Charles Prescott and his wife, Ruth, of Summerfield, Fla.; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Ethel Prescott; his father, Zacharia Prescott; and his mother, Maude Eppe Anyon Prescott.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. today (Tuesday) at a graveside service in Philadelphia Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Mark Needham, Michael Prescott, Byron McCrackin, Joshua McCrackin, James Gann and Scott Crisp.
