Chad Houchin, 40, of Idabel, Okla., formerly of Monette, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005, at Idabel as the result of a traffic accident. Born at Jonesboro, he had lived in McCurtain County for 18 years. He was a farmer and member of the Idabel Country Club and the Red River Cup. He was also a member of Rowe's Chapel Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Sheri Houchin of Idabel; his parents, John and Brenda Houchin of Idabel; two sons, Colton Houchin and Bret Houchin, both of Idabel; a sister, Mylinda Hawkins of Monette; and his maternal grandmother, Nayrene Sanders.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, H.D. Sanders, and his paternal grandparents, Paul and Vernie Houchin.

Funeral services were 2 p.m. Saturday at the Norwood Funeral Home chapel in Idabel. Burial was in Canfield Cemetery.

A memorial service will be held today (Tuesday) at 2 p.m. at Rowe's Chapel Baptist Church in the Hancock community near Monette.
