Maurine Ethel Powell, 88, of Jonesboro, formerly of Manila, died Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2004, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at Manila, she was the daughter of the late William and Easter Nolley Wortham and was a lifelong resident of this area. She was the widow of Riley Powell and was a member of the First Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, Tommy Powell of Jonesboro, a brother, George Wortham of Gosnell; two grandchildren, Robert Thomas Powell and Krisanna Desha Powell.

The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Manila First Baptist Church with Rev. Ferrel Duffel and Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila.
