James Wilburn Smith, Sr., 72, of Bridgman, Mich., died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at the Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph, Michigan. Born in Leachville, he was the son of the late Hurlet and Naomi (Rooks) Smith. He was a Honda Gold Wing Association member, a former member of Weesaw Township Zoning Board and the Lake Township Ambulance.
On July 4, 1996, he married Nancy Harding and she survives along with his children, James Smith, Jr., Randol Smith and Melissia Jackson, all of Paw Paw, Mich.; two step-children; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; six brothers and six sisters.
He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Frieda Janelle Smith; a brother and a sister.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 18, at Boyd-Pike Funeral Home in Bridgman with the Rev. Terry L. Bently officiating. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery in Bridgman.
