Talmadge Davis - Bay

Talmadge "509" Davis, 71, of Bay, died at St. Bernards Medical Center Sunday, Sept. 21, 2003. A native of Lawrenceburg, Tenn., he had lived in Manila before moving to Jonesboro and later to Bay. He was a former member of the Lions Club where he had been very active. He was also active with the citizens band radio, avid reader and operated the concession stand at the Craighead County Court House for 31 years.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Newsom Davis of the home; three sons, Randy Davis, Steven Davis and Kendall Davis, all of Paragould; two daughters, Tammy Davis and Kathy Gonzales, both of Jonesboro; a step-daughter, Michelle Brown of Bay; three adopted grandchildren, Samantha, Davis and Christopher Davis, all of the home; three brothers, James Davis of Winterhaven, Fla., Charles Davis of Texarkana, Texas, Larry Davis of Manila; a sister, Jan Brock of Cleveland, Miss.; 16 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Sally Davis, and a sister, Ruby Davis.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Emerson Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Wilburn Brock and Marvin Rickett officiating. Burial was in the Jonesboro Memorial Park.

Pallbearers were Greg Harrington, Kenneth Baxter, Raymond Baxter, Cecil Daniels, Ronald Brown and Matt May.
