Omer V. Thomas, 87, of Jacksonville, died Monday, July 29, 2002. He was born in the Mangrum Community to Dock Raymond and Sallie Baugh Thomas and lived in the area until his mid-thirties. He moved to Norfork to work on the Bull Shoals Dam. After its completion he moved to Jacksonville where he worked for a chemical company and then for Remington Arms until his retirement.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Edris Polston Thomas; two sons, Gearld and Charles Thomas, all of Jacksonville; two grandchildren, Michelle and Joseph Thomas; daughter-in-law, Janie Thomas of Tulsa, Okla., and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gary Thomas; his parents; two sisters, Pearl Thomas Snyder, Emma Nell Thomas Homer, and a brother, Marley Thomas.
The funeral was held at Moore's Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Interment was in Chapel Hill Cemetery in Jacksonville.
