Elva Lucille Skaggs, 70, of Leachville, died Thursday, Jan. 3,2002, at Monette Manor Nursing Center. Born at Bradford she was a longtime Leachville resident and was the daughter of the late Jacob and Maybelle Wallace Ballard and the widow of J.D. Skaggs. She was retired from Brown Shoe Company in Leachville and was a member of the Happy Corner Assembly of God Church.
She is survived by a son, Ronnie Skaggs, of Leachville; six daughters, Mary Ann Hugg of Jonesboro, Wanda Bollinger of Harrison, Freida Coburn of Leachville, Sheila Pierce of Branson, Mo., Denice Watkins of Jonesboro and Dana Key of Brookland; three brothers, James Ballard of Leachville, Marion Ballard of Little Rock, Ernest Ballard of Batesville; two sisters, Helen Blevins of Leachville and Mary Ballard of Colorado; 26 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Johnson and a son, Donnie Skaggs.
The funeral was held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Richard Key officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery.
