Danny Robert McWilliams, 66, of Jonesboro passed away Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2013, at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born July 17, 1947, in Blytheville to the late Odell and Wilodean Donner McWilliams. Danny retired from Kroger after 32 years. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from 1968-1969, was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Paralyzed Veterans of America. Danny loved hunting, fishing, riding his Harley, and most of all spending time and playing with all his grandchildren.

Danny was preceded in death by his parents; a grandchild, Stephen Robert McWilliams Jr.; a son, James Daryl Ponder; a brother, Bobby Lynn McWilliams, and a nephew, Jay Wesley McWilliams.

Survivors include his wife Helen (Fleming) Ponder-McWilliams; two sons, Stephen Robert (Rachel) McWilliams of Byron, Ga., and Kirk Dewayne (Kathy) Ponder of Wynne; a daughter, Gwendolyn Marie (Beri) Platz of Hawkinsville, Ga.; one nephew, James David (Amber) McWilliams of Jonesboro; 22 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10-11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at Roller-Farmers Union Funeral Home, 1900 West Washington Avenue in Jonesboro with memorial service beginning at 11 a.m. with Rev. Jack Vu officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
