Jerry Everett Dean McFarlin, 76, of Monette passed away Dec. 26, 2012, in Jonesboro. He was born in Monette Sept. 15, 1936, to the late Thomas and Jenny Mae Drayford McFarlin. A lifelong Monette resident, Dean and his wife contributed to the local and farming community through automotive mechanics and tire sales and repair until their retirement in 1995. Dean valued family and used his retirement years enjoying quality time with his wife, children and grandchildren as well as extended family throughout the community. Dean will be greatly missed by all his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Lorene Steed of Monette, and six brothers, Harvey McFarlin, Thomas (Budgie) McFarlin, J.C. McFarlin, Ellis McFarlin, Audie McFarlin and Larry McFarlin.

Survivors include his loving wife, Alice McCollum McFarlin; one brother, Marvin McFarlin of Paragould; one son, James Dean McFarlin of Monette; one daughter, Murelene Walker of Monette; six grandchildren, Darrin James McFarlin of Pensacola, Fla., Tina Walker of Memphis, Tenn., Kelly Walker Powell of Brookland, Jenny Walker of Fayetteville, MaKensie Walker of Monette and Blake Smithee of Monette; and one great-grandson, Hunter Powell.

Graveside funeral services were 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, at Monette Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Reed officiating. Visitation was be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Michael McFarlin, Darrin McFarlin, Blake Smithee, Phillip Duffel, Brian Carmichael and Tommy Lee Steed.

Honorary pallbearers were Jerry Wade, Thomas McFarlin and Mack Bounds.
