L.C. Austin, 75, passed away Aug. 23, 2012. He was born Jan. 30, 1937, to the late Shirel and Hazel Wiser Austin. He is also preceded in death by one grandchild, Chandler Austin, and four brothers, Oneal, Bondail, Burneal and Elden Carl Austin.

He was a farmer and also retired from FMC Technologies in Jonesboro. He loved woodworking and restoring old cars. He was a member of Rowe's Chapel Baptist Church. Mr. Austin is remembered by family as a loving husband and father who worked diligently to provide for his family.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Laverne Gregory Austin of the home; two sons, Tony Austin and wife Britt of Leachville and Kevin Austin and wife Angelia of Black Oak; daughter, Theresa Howarth of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Charlotte Hilliard- Simmons of Paragould, Brandi Hilliard of Jonesboro, Marshall Hilliard of Jonesboro, Chance Austin of Black Oak and Felisha Foster of Trumann; great-grandchildren, Lacie, Kirsten and Rebecka; one brother, Jerry Austin of Leachville; and five sisters, Pat Smith of Phoenix, Ariz., Geraldine Tuck of Valdasta, Ga., Melbadine French of Jonesboro, Helen Poe of Monette and Wanda Jean Lowrey of Valdesta, Ga.

Funeral services were 10 a.m. Saturday Aug. 25, at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Rev. Mike Tabor officiating. Interment followed in the Monette Cemetery. Visitation was Friday evening from 6 until 8 at Gregg's funeral home.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Alford Gregory, Johnny Houchin, Jackie DeSpain, Dan Staggs, Larry Sanders and Phillip Van Winkle. Honorary pallbearers were Mule Kirby, Horse Fly Kirby, P-Jinx Kirby, Little Kirby, Joe Perky, Wayne Perky, Joe Clue and Leon Lamb.
