Voy Lee Bailey

Voy Lee Bailey, 73, of Leachville, died late Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro. Born at Higden, Ark., he was the son of the late Milburn and Exie Eoff Bailey and had lived most of his life in the Monette and Leachville areas. Voy owned and operated two successful businesses for more than 40 years in Leachville, Bailey's Service Station and Auto Repair and Bailey's Saddle and Tack Shop. He was well known and loved throughout the area. Those who knew him, knew he was a kind and generous man who touched many lives. Voy was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and was anxious to see his new great-grandson. He will be missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Johnson Bailey of the home; one daughter and son-in-law, Sharon and Darrel Burnett; two grandchildren, Christopher Burnett, his wife Lisa, and Lauren Burnett; one great-grandson, Greyson Burnett, all of Lynn Haven, Fla.; two brothers, Dale Bailey of Oxford, Miss., Jim Bailey and wife Kathy of Bald Knob, Ark.; four sisters, Dacy Hooten and husband Bill of Bee Branch, Ark., Vada Shelton and husband David of Brookland, Nell Birdsong of Greers Ferry and Loretta Fern Todd and husband J.D. of Greers Ferry. Voy also leaves a brother-in-law Fred Greathouse and wife Phyllis of Leachville, and a sister-in-law, Rhonda Johnson of Monette.

Funeral service was 2 p.m. Saturday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Tom Newman officiating. Burial was in Monette Cemetery.

The family received visitors from noon until service time at the funeral home.

Pallbearers were Earl Towell, Charlie Layton, Dennis Oliver, Stan Simpkins, Brad Hitchcock, and Elbert Dubar. Honorary pallbearers included William Olive, Eddie Bolar, Darrel Binkley and Kenny Hunt.
