Damon Laffoon

Damon Laffoon, 73, of Dover, formerly of Leachvillle, died early Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at his home. Born at Dermott, Ark., he was the son of the late Duford and Norvell Mason Laffoon. Damon's family moved to Leachville in the late 1940s and he was a 1956 graduate of Leachville High School. Following his service in the U.S. Air Force he returned to Leachville where he became a longtime employee of the former Brown Shoe Company. He was plant manager at several Brown Shoe locations over the years including Dixon, Mo., Ironton, Mo., Piggott, Ark., and Piedmont, Mo. He had been a Russellville area resident for the past 15 years.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Towell, and a brother, Ronnie Laffoon.

Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Demetra Burrell Laffoon of the home; two sons, Mark Laffoon and his wife Rhonda, of Argyle, Texas, and Steve Laffoon of Milwaukee, Wis.; one daughter, Stephany Laffoon and her fiance Doug Lipps, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; one sister, Betty Blocker of Stuttgart, Ark. Damon also leaves his three grandchildren, Claire Laffoon, Gabriella Laffoon, and J.D. Lipps.

Graveside funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, at the Leachville Cemetery with Rev. David Price officiating. Burial will be under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Leachville.
