Jonesboro

Jose Castanon, 67, of Jonesboro, formerly of Leachville, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2011, at the Flo and Phil Jones Hospice House in Jonesboro. Born at Santa Rosa, Texas, he was the son of the late Cosmo and Mercedes Rojas Castanon. He was a retired farmer and had lived many years in Leachville before moving to Jonesboro in 2009.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Jose Castanon, Jr. in 2007.

Survivors include two sons, Jimmy Castanon of Leachville and Felipe Castanon of Santa Rosa, Texas; two daughters, Ludivina Garza of Jonesboro and Elvira Myers of Leachville; one stepson, Nick Ruiz of Leachville; seven brothers, Cosmo Castanon, Jr., Stevie Castanon, Thomas Castanon, Felipe Castanon, Domingo Castanon, all of Flint, Mich., Francisco Azua of Corinth, Miss., and Saul Rojas of Santa Rosa, Texas; six sisters, Cookie Whitten, Nancy Fisher, Millie Hodge, Janie Spooner, all of Flint, Mich., Amelia Villareal of Ft. Worth, Texas,

Alicia Sanchez of Santa Rosa, Texas; and 18 grandchildren.

Funeral service was 2 p.m. Monday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Bobby Floyd officiating. Burial was in Leachville Cemetery. The family received visitors Sunday evening from 6-8 at the funeral home.
