Mr. Bill J. Griggs of Steele, Mo., formerly of Dell, Ark., died July 16, 2011, at the Baptist East memorial Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., at the age of 70 years and 13 days. He was born July 3, 1941 in Dell. He was the son of the late William Alfred Griggs and Eva Ramey Griggs; however, due to the death of his mother, he was raised by his maternal grandparents, Troy and AdiSue Ramey. He was a graduate of Dell Public School of Dell, Ark. He later became an active farmer in Whistleville, Ark. He was passionate about farming, antique cars, and hunting.

He leaves his wife, Joan Riddick of the home; Three children, Tina Sue Griggs Carr and husband, Michael of Collierville, Tenn., Dana Griggs of Jackson, Ark., and Tim Griggs and wife Brandy of Blytheville, Ark.; three grandsons, Reyn Griggs, Chandler Carr, and Bo Willyard; one granddaughter, Ellen Carr; one great-granddaughter, Lillie Collen Willyard and a brother, Ronnie Griggs of New Albany, Miss.

Active pallbearers were Bo Willyard, Chandler Carr, Drew Blankenship, Kevin Gray, Allen Hunnicut, and Richard Simpson. Honorary pallbearers were Dr. David Sloas, Joe Buck, Barry Ray, Koehler Blankenship, Andy Adams, William Knight, Steve Baugher, and Tommy Simpson.

The funeral was held Wednesday, July 20, 2011, at 3 p.m. at the John W. German Funeral Home chapel in Steele, Mo., with Rev. Marilyn Webb officiating.

Burial was in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Steele, Mo. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the John W. German Funeral Home of Steele, Mo.
