Ruth H. Hudson

El Dorado -- Ruth Helen Hudson, 74, of El Dorado, passed away Sunday, Jan. 30, 2011, at the John R. Williamson Hospice House.

She was born March 10, 1936, in Manila, to Edgar Earl Murphy and Vonnie Ethel Victoria Palmer. She was a homemaker who loved her family, flowers, traveling and working in her yard. She never met a stranger. She was a member of Heart Life Family Church.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a daughter, Debbie Foster; and a sister, Patricia Shoffner.

Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Max Erroll Hudson of El Dorado; daughters, Tommie Jane Hudson of El Dorado, Michelle Dupree of Dallas, and Melanie Serenol of Wyoming; sons, Steven Collins of Dallas, Michael Collins of Afghanistan, Max Allen Hudson of West Virginia and David Jefferson Hudson of Kansas City; brothers, Jerry Murphy of Caraway and Gary Murphy of Manila; sisters, Faye Barrow of Auburndale, Fla., Bernice Smith of Manila, Billie Staggs of Manila, Joan Murphy of El Dorado, Marsha Mulford of Blytheville and Cathy Mindy of Bay City, Mich.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4, in Young's Chapel with the Rev. Jim Bolding officiating. Burial was at Arlington Memorial Park under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.

Visitation was held at the funeral home.
