Lillian Virginia Hale, 90, of Manila passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, at St. Bernards Regional Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Joiner to Jesse and Viola Melvin Beal, she was the former owner of the City Cafe and the Dime Store in Manila. She was a charter member of Soul's Harbor Trinity Church in Manila. Mrs. Hale loved people and working with the public, attending church and calling with the prayer chain for the sick.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charlie Hale; children, Charles Hale, Jr., Ester Parr and Edward Leo Hale; brothers, Leslie Beal and J.D. Beal; sisters, Bernice Watson and Irene McFall, and a granddaughter, Tina Kay Price.

She is survived by her children, Lavern Kelley of Manila, Mary Brooks of Manila, Brenda Clay of North Little Rock; and a sister, Pauline Alexander of Southaven, Miss.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, at Soul's Harbor Trinity Church in Manila with Reverend David Fair and Reverend Tommy Burnett officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery.
