Tuesday, August 10, 2010

Mrs. Ann Carolyn Masner, 79, passed away Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

She was born in Monette on May 19, 1931, at her grandmother's home to the late Gilbert and Beryl Murrell. She had lived in Jonesboro for four years and was formerly of Monette. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church in Monette and was a retired teacher from Monette Elementary School.

Ann was a pianist and then organist, beginning in her teens until she handed it over to others. Ann was a blessing to all who knew her and will be greatly missed.

Ann married John Paul Masner on Aug. 22, 1953, and they enjoyed 57 years of marriage. She was a faithful wife and life partner to John.

Her faith and her church were her life. Her children were her many students who still call her "Miss Ann."

She is survived by her beloved husband, John Paul Masner of the home; and nieces, nephews, cousins and many good friends. She will be missed very much and forever loved.

A celebration of her life will be held at 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) at First Baptist Church in Monette with the Rev. Rusty Bird officiating and Stacy Qualls providing the music. Burial will follow in Monette Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Active pallbearers will be the deacons of First Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. Tuesday until service time at the church.

The family requests lasting memorials to First Baptist Church of Monette.
