Birtha Edith Clowers

Mrs. Birtha Edith Clowers, 88, of Leachville, died Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at the Monette Manor Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Mr. Roy Clowers, on Jan. 3 of this year. Born in Teney County, Mo., she was the daughter of the late J.W. and Edna Payne Leird and had been a Leachville resident most of her life. She was a homemaker and was retired form American Greetings in Osceola. Mrs. Clowers was a long-time faithful member of the Second Baptist Church in Leachville.

Survivors include four sons, Rick Clowers and wife, Suk of Lampe, Mo., Danny Clowers and wife Tammy of Blytheville, Robert Clowers and wife, Rebecca of Leachville, and Jackie Clowers of Osceola; a brother, Fletcher Leird of Malden; two sisters, Nellie Barnhart of Seligman, Mo., and Oleata Miller of Milford, Ind.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Second Baptist Church with Rev. Johnny Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at the Leachville Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Leachville.

The family will receive visitors from 6-8 p.m. Thursday evening at the church.
