Camille Dallas Rodgers, 89, passed away Monday, Oct. 12, 2009 at Gardner Nursing Center. Mrs. Rodgers lived in Star City and Dumas for the past nine years formerly of Caraway and Black Oak. She was born Sept. 12, 1920 in Brookland to the late Harry and Effie Riggs. Mrs. Camille received her Master's Degree from Arkansas State University in Elementary Education. She taught school for 40 years at Caraway and Manila Schools. She was a member of the Black Oak Baptist Church, formerly a Methodist, and an Eastern Star member and worked with the youth group at church. Mr. and Mrs. Dallas operated a dairy farm in Caraway for around 14 years. She enjoyed the Riggs family reunion which has been held for over 50 years.

Survivors include a son, Danny Dallas of Dumas; a daughter, Sharon Ann Wilkin of Dallas, Texas; two stepdaughters, Beverly Sennette of Palm Springs, Fla., and Lynn Kirksey of Huntsville, Ala.; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; six brothers; two sisters and several nieces and nephews.

She was blessed to have two wonderful husbands who preceded her in death, Wilson Dallas and Graham Rodgers, and a brother.

A celebration of her life was held at 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro with Rev. Maurcie Hitt officiating. Burial was in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation was at the Gregg Funeral Home on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 6-8 p.m.
