Leavie Owen Brickell Jr., 67, passed away Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009 at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born Feb. 7, 1942 in Poinsett County to the late Leavie and Nellie Brickell Sr. He was a pharmaceutical rep with the Pfizer Company for over 20 years. He received his BS degree in political science from Arkansas State University where he was president of the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, president of the Student Government and was named Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include three daughters, Lisa Lillard of Atlanta, Ga., Cynthia Plymire of Nashville, Tenn., and Pamela Lynn Brickell of Antioch, Tenn.; three sisters, Margaret Lee of Peoria, Ill., Mytle Helper of East Peoria, Ill. and Mary Ward of Cherokee Village; two brothers, Cecil Brickell of Horseshoe Bend and Larry Brickell of Mammoth Springs, and four grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Linda Lloyd, and a brother, Bill Brickell.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the Riverside Cemetery in Mammoth Springs. Burial will follow under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Caraway.

Visitation was Monday from 6-8 p.m. at the Gregg Funeral Home in Caraway.

The family requests lasting memorials sent to St. Jude's Hospital in Memphis.
