Carl W. Jackson, 71, passed to his rest on Sunday, Aug. 2, 2009, in his home after a five-year battle with cancer.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jackie (Anderson) Jackson; two sons, Robert (Ginger) Jackson of Niles, Mich., and David (Lisa) Jackson of Elkhart, Ind.; a daughter, Ginger Jackson of Edwardsburg, Mich.; and a granddaughter, Isabella; three sisters, Sue (Jay) Bradford of Manila, Sharon (Denny) Hughes of Oakdale, Ill., and Brenda Chipman of Lake City; four brothers, Dan (Ginger) Jackson of Pleasant Grove, Jim (Melanie) Jackson of Mishawaka, Ind., Dale Jackson of Manila, and Bo (Becky) Jackson of Leachville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Lucy Jackson; three brothers, Roy, Lloyd and Billy; and a sister, Jean.

Carl Jackson was born March 23, 1938, in Spiro, Okla., the son of Robert E. and Lucy (Reed) Jackson. At the age of 10 he moved to Manila and then at the age of 18 moved to Mishawaka, Ind., to start working at Dodge Reliance Mfg. and was there 28 years. He had a love of the land and farming and in 1966 bought a farm in Edwardsburg, Mich., where he and his wife continued farming until his illness. Carl loved baseball and was a Little League coach for several years. He loved cultivating the garden and his many friends. He was helpful with his neighbors and was always there when needed.

There was no visitation or services at this time. Cremation has taken place. Arrangements were under the direction of Paul E. Mayhew Funeral Home, Edwardsburg, Mich.
