Floyd Winford Rose, 74, of Leachville died Monday, May 18, 2009, at Monette Manor Nursing Center. Born at Hollywood, Mo., he was the son of the late S.C. and Gladys Ross Rose and was a longtime Leachville area resident. He was a former employee of the Brown Shoe Company and also Wheeler Furniture and Hardware in Leachville. Floyd and his wife, Aletta, owned and operated the Rose Grocery and Deli in Leachville for several years prior to retirement. He was a longtime member and deacon of the Leachville Second Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Earl Rose, Tip Rose, Clint Rose, and Bill Rose; and five sisters, Julie Johnson, Kitty Wilson, May Wilkins, Jonell Brown, and June Robertson.

Survivors include his wife, Aletta Barnes Rose of Leachville; two sons, Ricky Rose and wife Connie of Jonesboro and Randy Rose and wife Terry of Leachville; a brother, S.C. Rose of Marion; a sister, Sharon Hitt and husband Tom of Leachville; and grandchildren, Joshua and Lindsey Rose, Allison and Mark Tribble, Jordan and Melanie Rose, Melanie and Jason Hicks, and Jonas and Kortnie Rose, and great-grandchildren, Grason, Kennedy, Brianna, Landon, and Hannah.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Howard Fuenral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Monty Shinkle, Rev. Russel Rhodes, and Rev. David Price officiating. Burial was in the Leachville Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Johnny Hawkins, Robert Clowers, Jim Rolland, Bob Shipley, Johnny Thomas, and Tommy Eldried.

Honorary pallbearers were Rick Hamilton, Ed Dempsey, Jim Burrier, and former pastors of the Leachville Second Baptist Church, Rev. Bert Thomas, Rev. Roger Haney, Rev. Duane Smith, Rev. Dennis Smith and Shane Knight.
