Russell "Pete" Lorton Files, 89, of Manila died Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at NEA Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jonesboro. Born at Manila, he was the son of the late James Berry and Mary Elizabeth Crow Files and had been a lifelong Manila area resident. He was a retired farmer and a longtime member of the Blackwater Baptist Church near Manila. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be remembered by his family and friends for his great sense of humor.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jinks Louise Loveless Files, in August 2000; a brother; and five sisters.

Survivors include two daughters, Donna Baugher and husband, Ken, of Orange Beach, Ala., and Gena Files of Atlanta, Ga.; a grandson, Chris Baugher and wife Dorothy of Atlanta, Ga.; a granddaughter, Kim Imperato and husband Paul of Daphne, Ala.; and four great-grandchildren, Charlotte Baugher, Luke Baugher, Sydney Imperato and Lannee Imperato; several nieces and nephews including a very special niece, Joyce Files.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Blackwater Baptist Church near Manila with Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial followed at the Manila Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila. The family received visitors Thursday evening at the church.

The family has requested lasting memorials be made to the Blackwater Baptist Church.
