Sammy Wesley Hutton, 80, of Manila, died Saturday, March 7, 2009, at the University of Arkansas Medical Science Hospital in Little Rock. Born in Detroit, Mich., he was the son of the late Arnold and Helen Hamm Hutton, and had been a Manila area resident most of his life. He was a retired farmer and commercial fisherman. He enjoyed having friends and family visit with him and was famous for his fish fries as well as his big Fourth of July barbecue. As a teenager, he and his mother sang on radio programs and won several talent contests. He was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church in Manila.

Survivors include his wife, Jerry Gibson Hutton, of Manila; four sons, Sam Hutton, Jr. of Manila, Larry Dodd of Manila, Kenny Roundtree of Ft. Worth, Texas, and Wes Hutton of Lake Charles, La.; a daughter, Tammy Spence of Paragould; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Howard Funeral Chapel in Manila with Rev. William Piercy officiating. Burial will follow in the Manila Cemetery.

The family will receive visitors Tuesday, March 10, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
