Ola Mae Higgins

Ola Mae Higgins, 74, of Dyess, died on Sunday, March 1, 2009, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro after an extensive illness. Born Nov. 3, 1934, in Louisiana to the late Joseph Ainsworth and Mattie Stites Ainsworth, she was a resident of the Dyess community, was of the Baptist faith, a retired surgery technician in Arizona, enjoyed crocheting, working crossword puzzles, and traveling.

Survivors include three daughters, Norma Presley and husband Wayne of Russellville, Ala., Shirley Shannon and husband John of Chicago Ill., Cathy Carter and husband Kenneth of Dyess; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Clive; three brothers; Homer, Clarence, and Leonard Ainsworth; two sisters, Florence Winford and Bello Jo Benner; two sons, Ray Pittman and Jerry Pittman.

Services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 4, at Eastside Baptist Church, Osceola, with Rev. George Brewer officiating. Burial followed at Garden Point Cemetery in Etowah. The family received visitors Tuesday 6-9 p.m. at the Eastside Baptist Church. Faith Funeral Service of Manila was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Tommy D. Carter, David Presley, Greg Presley, Kenneth Carter, Tommy E. Carter and Herbert Ainsworth.
