Jim Stogsdill, 69, of Caraway, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2009, at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born Aug. 6, 1939, in Paragould to the late Elmer and Elizabeth Stogsdill Sr. He was a 1957 graduate of Jonesboro High School. During the Vietnam War, he served as a captain in the U.S. Army Intelligence. He retired as a supervisor from Farmers Home Administration in Wilkesboro, N.C., where he lived for 20 years and was active in the Lions Club. He also farmed in Black Oak Community and was a member of the Black Oak Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Wanda Stogsdill of the home; two sons and their wives, Mark and Angie Stogsdill of Nashville and Rodney and Jennifer Sanders of Palatine, Ill; two daughters and their husbands, Leigh Ann and Don Coulon of Victoria, Texas, and Lisa and Wade Stevens of Seymour, Tenn.; two grandchildren, Ashley Coulon and J.T. Coulon; a sister, Janet Stogsdill Osmon of Mountain Home; two brothers and their wives, John and Vickie Stogsdill and Jerry and Corilla Stogsdill all of Jonesboro; his mother-in-law, Mildred Coffman of Black Oak.

He was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, W.D. Coffman.

A celebration of his life was held at 11 a..m. on Saturday, Jan. 17, at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette with Rev. Rick Stevens officiating. Burial followed in Caraway Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were David Wells, Bryan Wells, Will Whitehead, Eddie Whitehead, Stephen Osmon and Scott Osmon and the Jonesboro High School Class of 1957 served as honorary pallbearers.

The family requests lasting memorial be given to the Caraway Lions Club or to the charity of the donor's choice.
