Charlene Poe Paul

Charlene Poe Paul, 72, died July 22, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. She was born Aug. 11, 1935, in the Wallace Community to the late Frank and Ila Eaton Poe. She retired from General Motors, Delco Division in Kokoma, Ind., after 30 years and returned to Monette in 1990. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant General Baptist Church.

She is survived by a sister, Marlene Nuckles of Monette; a brother, Larry Poe and his wife Judy of Thonotosassa, Fla.; two step-children, Gary Paul and Sandra Paul; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins; a special caregiver, Lucille "Boots " Poe.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Billie Paul; two sons who died at birth, Gary Lynn Paul and David Wayne Paul; a brother, Cletus Eugene Poe, and a sister, Catherine Trantham.

A celebration of her life was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Gregg Funeral Home in Monette with Rev. Jerry Reed and Rev. Jim Rupard officiating. Burial was in the Monette Memorial Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jason Poe, Neil Poe, Michael Trantham, David Trantham, Billie David Paul IV and Elvis Poe, Jr.

The family has set up an account at Heritage Bank in care of Charlene Paul to be donated to the Arkansas Children Hospital in memory of her two sons.
