Collier Joe Nance

Collier Joe Nance, 87, of Monette died Thursday, May 8, 2008, at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born Nov. 13, 1920, in the Carmi Community to the late John and Martha Nance. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Calvary Full Gospel Church in Cardwell. Mr. Nance served in the United States Army during World War II and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Nance of the home; a daughter, Donzia Nance; a son and his wife, Ronnie and Diane Nance, all of Monette; two brothers, Murrell Nance of Lake City and Herndon Nance of Corsicana, Texas; two sisters, Alma Dulaney of Jonesboro and Zelma Ashbranner of Ceder Hill, Texas; three grandchildren, Shawn Nance, Danielle Mcloy and Bradley Hill, and three great-grandchildren, Madison Grace Mcloy, Emmalee Mcloy and Aiden Douglas Nance.

He was also preceded in death by a brother, Vassar Nance, and two sisters, Thelma Wyatt and Vama Hayden.

A celebration of his life was held at 10:30 a.m. May 12 at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette with Rev. Leland Dement officiating. Burial was in Monette Memorial Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Rodney Gilpatrick, Jerry Bolar, Bill Bolar, Tommy Eldried, Bradley Hill and Boyce Ledford.
