Lawrence Edward "L.E." Mobley, Jr., 78 of Pensacola, Fla., died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2008. Mr. Mobley was born and raised in Manila. He graduated from Manila High School in 1947. He attended Arkansas State University and completed a graduate degree from the University of Mississippi. He was an educator for 44 years; math teacher, coach, guidance counselor and for the last half of his career, principal of Manila High School.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bertha Mobley of Pensacola; his brother and sister-in-law, Jan and Shirley Mobley of Fort Smith; his son, Ed Mobley; his grandson, L.E. Mobley IV of Pensacola, and his granddaughter, Tara Frye, and husband, Josh, and their children, Logan and Molly of Lebanon, Tenn.; and an uncountable number of friends, relatives, former students and co-workers.

The funeral was held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 26, at Cokesbury United Methodist Church on Summitt Boulevard with Rev. Connie Ragghianti and Rev. Clint McBroom officiating. Burial was in Bayview Memorial Park Cemetery. Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel was in charge of arrangements.

A memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at the Manila First United Methodist Church.

Flowers are welcome as donations in his honor to the Manila Methodist Church to which he gave his support all of his life.
