Monette

Jacob Winford Tracer, Sr., 91, died Thursday, October 25, 2007 at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. He was born in Childress to the late V.M. and Rena Harrell Tracer. He was a jeweler and owned Tracer's Jewelry Store in Monette. He was a member of the Monette First United Methodist Church, Monette Masonic Lodge and the Lions Club. He served in the Army during World War II and was a member of the Monette American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was an avid fisherman.

Survivors include his wife, Thelma Tracer of the home; two sons, Jacob W. Tracer Jr. and wife Glenda of Keller, Texas, and William M. Tracer of Cordova, Tenn.; a brother, Joe Tracer of Paragould, and a granddaughter, Sarah E. Tracer of Keller, Texas.

He was also preceded in death by a sister, Levelva T. Walden, and a brother, J.D. Tracer.

A celebration of his life was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007 at the Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Rev. Jerry Reed officiating. Burial was in the Macey Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Pallbearers were Carl Giles, Don Flippin, Johnnie Walden, Gene Gathright, Donald Hover and H.M. Wimberley. Honorary pallbearers were Jodie Brown, David Harrell, Frank Menser, David Jones, Jim Allen, Alan Powers and Steve Adams.
