Jonesboro

Robert Lee Redd Sr., 64, of Jonesboro, died Monday, Oct. 1, 2007, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro after a brief illness. He was born Aug. 30, 1943, in Trumann, to the late Esker A. Redd and Mary Elizabeth Painter Redd.

He was a lifelong area resident and was of the Church of God faith. He worked in radio broadcasting with various radio stations, the latest one being KNEA and worked as a custodian with G&K Cleaning Services, along with many other franchises. He was a record collector and an avid gospel music fan.

Survivors include his wife of 24 years, Shirley Redd of Jonesboro; a son, Robert Lee Redd, Jr., of Jonesboro; a daughter, Amber Lynette Redd of Jonesboro; a brother, Gerald Wayne Redd of Waxahachie, Texas; and a half sister, Faye Scott of Georgetown, Ill.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters and a half sister.

The funeral was held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Church of God (4813 East Johnson), Jonesboro with Rev. Heath Hogan and Rev. Michael Jernigan officiating. Burial was at Philadelphia Cemetery in Jonesboro with Faith Funeral Service of Manila in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers were Jeffrey Totty, Justin Totty, Brandon McClaughlin, Andy Wallace, Larry I. Cox, William Dedman, and Michael Johnson.
