Katie Geneva Guy, 87, died Monday, July 3, 2007, at Lakeside Nursing Center where she had lived since Aug. 2002. She was born Oct. 28, 1919, in the Nettleton Community. She was a lifetime member of Nettleton Methodist Church.

Before going into the nursing center, she had lived at the same address in Jonesboro since 1946. She was a graduate of Nettleton High School and went to beauty school in 1945 at Monette, where she graduated becoming a beautician and operated a small beauty shop in the living room of her home. Afterwards, she went to work at Arkansas State University in the cafeteria. She retired after working there 20 years.

Survivors include two nieces, Carroll Malone of Lake City and Dianne Shirey of Kile, Texas; two nephews, Robert Guy and David Guy, both of Jonesboro; four great-nieces; five great-nephews; two great-great-nephews; and a great-great-niece.

She was preceded in death by parents, Jake L. and Callie Seymore Guy; two brothers, Jack Guy, and Donald Guy.

A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Thursday in Nettleton Cemetery at Jonesboro with Rev. Jerry Reed officiating.

Burial was under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.

The family requests lasting memorials be given to the American Heart Association.
