Monette

Gracy Pearl Grooms, 98, died Saturday June 16, 2007, at Monette Manor Nursing Center. Born in Ripley, Tenn., she lived most of her life in the Leachville area. She was a homemaker, and member of the Second Baptist of Leachville. She worked for the Childress Public School lunch room for several years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert E. Lee Griggs and Annie Griggs Smith, her husbands, Edgar Piercy and James Grooms, a daughter and son-in-law Ruth and Robert Grooms, an infant daughter, an infant son, and a grandson.

She was survived by three sons, Gaylon Piercy, and his wife Irene of Lake City, Rev. William Piercy, and his wife Lillie Mae of Monette, and Laymon Piercy, of West Helena; a daughter Jewell Rolland, and her husband Jim of Leachville; a stepdaughter, Vanda Stanky and her husband Ernie of Atoka, Tenn.; a sister, Imogene Maddron of

Southhaven, Mich., and 12 grandchildren, Bobby Grooms of Paragould, Judy Hoover of Table Rock, Mo., Tommy Piercy of Mississippi, Jo Boyd of Cave City, Allen Piercy of Paragould, Vicky Olsen of Nebraska, Cheryle Cravens of Granada Miss., Tammy Spikes of Monette, John Piercy of Santa Rosa, Calif., Jimmy Rolland of Monette, Kim Bonner of Vilona, and Michael Piercy of Little Rock; eight great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren,

A celebration of her life was held Monday at 10 a.m. at the Gregg Funeral Chapel in Monette with Rev. Russell Rhoads officiating. Burial was in Macey Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Monette.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were her grandsons.

The family requests lasting memorials be sent to the Second Baptist Church of Leachville Roof Fund at their P.O. Box in Leachville.
