Lake City

Woodrow Ellis Coleman, 92, of Lake City died Monday, Feb. 5, 2007, at the NEA Hospital in Jonesboro. He was born in Loredo on Jan. 6, 1915, and was a lifelong resident of the Pleasant Valley Community near Lake City. He was instrumental in founding the Bowman Cemetery Association and raising funds for its maintenance. He was retired from maintenance at the General Electric plant and he was a farmer in the Pleasant Valley Community.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel Ellis and Mattie Lou Coleman, five brothers and a sister.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirl Coleman of the home; three nieces, Doris Adams of Trumann, Jan Morrison of Jonesboro and Barbara Bergman of Albuquerque, N.M.; two nephews, John Coleman of Fort Worth, Texas, and Bruno O'Guinn of Lake City.

The funeral was held at Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Jonesboro at 2 p.m. on Wednesday with Rev. Jimmy Anderson officiating. Burial was in Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Matt Morrison, Michael Morrison, Davey Webb, Ricky Scott, Tanner O'Guinn, Cody O'Guinn and Bruno O'Guinn, Jr.

Honorary pallbearers were Howell Addison, J.M. Davis, Joe Bossert, A. Scott, Howard Vincent, Barney Carpenter, James Stewart and Oliver Armstrong.
