Blytheville

Bobby Van Nowlin, 78, of Blytheville, formerly of Manila, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2006, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born at Manila he was the son of the late Homer Frank and Lissie Mae Hutton Nowlin and had been a Blytheville resident since 1955. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and was retired from the U.S. Civil Service. He was a former patrolman for the Blytheville Police Department and had also served on the Manila and Blytheville Fire Departments. He was a mason, a 50 year member of the American Legion Post #24, and a member of the North 10th Street Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Frankie Schott and Billie Handsher; two brothers, Jim Nowlin and Howard Nowlin, and a great granddaughter, Haleigh Juel Cloud.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Aleta White Nowlin of the home; two sons; Van Nowlin, and his wife Becky of Mountain Home, and Rob Nowlin of Rison; four sisters, Mary Jo Rhodes, and her husband Bill of Greenville, Mo., Woodie Bodenschatz, and her husband Glenn, Dorothy Reiter, and her husband Al, and Hettie Jane Oliver, all of Arnold, Mo.; four grandchildren, Heather Cloud, and her husband Jason, Jennifer Boogaart, and her husband Jeff, Laura Beth Baker, and her husband Josh, and Justin Nowlin, and three great-grandchildren, Blake Cloud, Sydney Cloud, and Meredith Boogaart.

Funeral service will be 10:30 Tuesday at North 10th Street Baptist Church in Blytheville with Dr. Max Briley and Rev. Henry Applegate officiating. Burial will follow in Manila Cemetery under the direction of Howard Funeral Service of Manila. The family will receive visitors Monday evening from 6-8 at the church.
