Ella J. Dewitt, 90, of Black Oak, died Aug. 27, 2006, at St. Bernards Medical Center. Born in Mississippi on Dec. 23, 1915, she spent the most of her life in the Black Oak area. She was a homemaker and a member of the Black Oak Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hayden Dewitt, Sr.; her parents, Pinkey Redman and Gussie Flynn; a daughter, Pinkey Jane Howard, and a stepson, Hayden Dewitt, Jr.

Survivors include two nephews, Ricky Smithee and Harvey Smithee of Monette; three nieces, Shirley Bouck of Atoka, Tenn., Lucreda Taylor of West Memphis, Janice Wilson of Marion; a stepson, Jesse Dewitt of Black Oak.

A celebration of her life was held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Gregg Funeral Home in Monette with Eddie Dunigan officiating. Burial was in the Monette Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Clearance Taylor, Bryan Taylor, Christopher Franklin, Richard Franklin, Mark Taylor, Ricky Smithee and Harvey Smithee.
