Kenneth Samuel Richards, 84, of Monette, died Saturday, June 17, 2006, at Monette Manor. Born in Walnut Ridge, he lived most of his life in Monette. He had worked as an automotive parts salesperson and was a World War II Marine veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Dortha Richards of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Helen Richards of Granite Shoals, Texas; daughters and son-in-law, Frances and Mike Day of Walnut, Ill., and Debra Toms of Amboy, Ill.; a brother and sister-in-law, Dean and Jeannie Richards of Antioch, Calif.; a sister and brother-in-law, Dortha and Al Romero of Antioch, Calif.; 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Preston Samuel Richards; daughter, Kathern Diane Savin; parents, George Samuel Richards and Esther Ellen Parr Richards; brother, Lloyd Allen Richards; and an infant brother and two infant sisters.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Rev. Jerry Reed and Rev. Terry Miller officiating. Burial was in Macey Cemetery at Monette.

Active pallbearers were Michael March, Franklin Smithee, Charlie Hill, Robert Chambers, Robin Ashley and Stanley March; and grandsons served as honorary pallbearers.
