Herbert Wayne Ballard, Sr. - Trumann

Herbert Wayne Ballard, Sr., 80, of Trumann, died Monday, June 12, 2006, at St. Bernards Medical Center in Jonesboro. Born in Monette, he was retired from General Motors and from the U.S. Navy. He was a member of Bristal Road Church of Christ.

Survivors include his daughter, Julie Hicks of Harrisburg; a son, Herbert Ballard, Jr., of Flint, Mich.; two sisters, Shirley McNamara and Loudean Key, both of Jonesboro; two brothers, Gene Ballard of East Peoria, Ill., and Donald Ballard of Leachville; grandchildren, Diana Lindsey, Kellie Byrd, Herbert Wayne Ballard, III, Summer Ballard and Bruce Ballard; three great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Lee Ballard; parents, Harvey Ballard and Winnie Odell (Brickell) Ballard; five brothers, Marvin Theodore Ballard, Hubert Ballard, Harvey Ballard, Jr., Gerald Ballard and Larry Ballard.

The funeral was held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Gregg Funeral Home Chapel in Monette with Larry Woodward officiating. Burial was in Monette Cemetery and nephews served as pallbearers.
