Lilburn Taylor - Jonesboro

Lilburn Hershel Taylor, 97, died at the home of his daughter in St. Louis on Friday, June 9, 2006. He was born Aug. 5, 1908, on the farm just north of Brown's Chapel Baptist Church near Paragould, which was the home of his maternal grandparents. His parents were William Cornelius (Neil) Taylor and Effie Rogers Taylor.

He grew up in the Childress community and married Henrietta Clark in 1931. He spent most of his life as a farmer. He was a longtime resident of the Childress community before coming to the Jonesboro area.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Henrietta Clark Taylor; two brothers, Maurice Taylor and Burdette Taylor; and three sisters, Arleta Taylor, Lucille Braden and Fannye Waters.

He is survived by his two daughters, LaNell Barnes of St. Louis and Nancy Enoch of Little Rock; five grandsons; five great-grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro where he served as a deacon and a member of the choir.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. today (Tuesday) at First Baptist Church in Jonesboro with Dr. Bruce Tippit officiating. Burial will be in the Jonesboro Memorial Park Cemetery with Emerson Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Grandsons and nephews will serve as pallbearers.
