William Frankford Powers - Manila

William Frankford Powers, 89, of Manila died Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at Manila Nursing Center. Born at Carlisle, Tenn., he was the son of the late Herbert and Cora Starnes Powers. He had lived in Manila since 2002 and was of the Baptist faith. Mr. Powers was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and received two bronze stars for his service in Sicily, North Africa and Italy.

He is survived by a sister, Lillian Ashabranner of Manila; a brother, Sherlock Powers of St. Joseph, Mich.; two nieces, Juanita Phillips of Nashville, Tenn., and Gail Duhamie of South Carolina; three nephews, Chester Ashabranner of Manila, Kenneth Ashabranner of Jonesboro, and Ronnie Powers of Nashville, Tenn.

A graveside service was held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Manila Cemetery with Rev. Rudy Burrow officiating.
