Eulis Eugene Vassar - Manila

Eulis Eugene Vassar, 88, of Manila, died Friday, March 3, 2006, at his home. Born at Bradyville, Tenn., he was the son of the late William and Jessie Perry Vassar and had been a Manila area resident for over 80 years. He was a retired heavy equipment operator, specializing in land leveling.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by five brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Lucille Hearty Vassar, of the home; five sons, Bobby Vassar and wife, Hazel, of Hartford, Mich., Pete Vassar and wife, Jimmie, of Hartford, Mich., Jerry Vassar and wife, Connie, of Manila, Phillip Vassar and wife, Deborah, of Jonesboro, and Terry Vassar of Manila; four daughters, Bonnie Estes, and husband, Boyd, of Hardy, Ann Miles, and husband, Ervin, of Ravenden, Linda Coleman and Debbie Vassar both of Manila; a brother, Grady Vassar, of Texas; a sister, Ovadean Meacham, of Blytheville; 20 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Ferrel Duffel officiating. Burial will be in Manila Cemetery.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
